Class Notes Day 10, Wed 2/14 - Flow, Timing, Boundaries
"Be grateful every day for the brief but magnificent opportunity that life provides."
For what it's worth, I feel better today. I fell asleep at 7:30 last night, I think it was. Woke up in the wee hours, wrote, went back to sleep. Walked into class with a better mind-set. Anyone who thinks this class is a piece of cake, a walk in the park, or any similar idiom is wrong.
On the other hand, I don't think I've been this physically healthy in years. Did I say that yesterday? Well, it's true. It's amazing what a difference less than two weeks can make in a person.
Class -

Sound bath
Students all supine on the floor like spokes on a wheel with our heads in the center

the vibrations are amazing as they go through your whole body
"exit ramps" (fingers, toes, crown) include shoulders and hips
be sure to return to the body very close to where you exited
traded for an hour each with freedom, no demo
"you have the hands of a caregiver"
Focus
Flow to specific area back to flow back to specific
If you are pressed for time in a session, whatever you're doing, just do less of it
Rob does only 75 or 90 minute massages
Contracts
The time of the massage is a contract you make with the client. If you run long, you are breaking the agreed contract. DON'T DO THAT!
This is an area of difficulty for me - maintaining time boundaries
If the client wants additional table time after massage has started, "x more minutes will cost $ - are you okay with that?"
"It's my career, my income"
"I have to take care of myself - financially, energetically, and physically"
If I'm the one who wants to extend the time without charging the client more, ask the client if they are okay with changing the contract regarding time only
Timing of massage is a professional boundary. Honor it.
Dual relationships
Make sure you have all your needs and desires met outside of your office - social, personal, sexual, emotional.
