I Saved the Life of a Bee - a short story from Sunday morning
I awoke before dawn. Went for a swim. Then sunk into one of the hot springs. I was blowing jasmine flowers across the surface of the water, pondering surface tension and life when I saw a little commmotion in the water. It was a honeybee stuck to the surface.
I confess I'm not fond of flying, stinging things and usually wouldn't step in to help, but it was a honeybee and I'm in Bali feeling mellow, so thinking of my sister, Jessie, who will help every living creature of whatever kind...
I blew on the surface of the water creating ripples that moved the little guy closer and closer to the floating jasmine flowers until he finally reached one, climbed up, shook his little self off, and flew away.
That, in one brief story, embodies where I am and why I am here, and sends love half-way around the world to Jessie. ILYM, sis!
